THE GOSPEL OF JESUS THE CHRIST -- Matthew, Mark, Luke, John
CHAPTER 66
Jesus
Commissions Peter

Sea of Galilee Shore Where Jesus Fed His
Disciples Breakfast After His Resurrection
x 66-1Then
when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter,
"Simon,
son of Jonah, do you love me more than these?"
xxxx66-2He said
to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you."
xxxx66-3He said
to him, "Feed my lambs."
xxxx66-4Again,
he said to him [for] the second time, "Simon,
son of Jonah, do you love me?"
xxxx66-5He said to him, "Yes,
Lord; you know that I love you."
xxxx66-6He said to him, "Shepherd
my sheep."
xxxx66-7He said to him [for] the
third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love
me?"
xxxx66-8Peter was grieved
because he said to him [for] the third time, "Do
you love me?"
xxxx66-9And he said to him,
"Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you."
xxxx66-10Jesus said to him, "Feed
my sheep."
xxxx66-11"Most
truly I say to you, 'When you were young, you clothed yourself
and walked where you desired; but when you grow old, you will
stretch out your hands and another will clothe you and carry you
where you do not desire to go.'"
xxxx66-12This he spoke to signify
by what death he would glorify God. 66-13When he had spoken
this, he said to him, "Follow me."
xxxx66-14Then turning around,
Peter saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also
leaned on his chest at supper and said, Lord, who is the one who
will betray you? 66-15Seeing him, Peter said
to Jesus, "Lord, and what will this man do?"
xxxx66-16Jesus said to him, "If
I desire that he remains until I come, what is that to you?
Follow me."
xxxx66-17Then this saying went
abroad among the brothers that the same disciple should not die. 66-18Yet Jesus did not say to
him, "He will not die," but, "If
I desire that he remains until I come, what is that to you?"
xxxx66-19This is the disciple who
testifies of these things and wrote these things; and we know
that his testimony is true.
Jesus Returns to Jerusalem and Commissions His Followers
xxxx66-20Then Jesus spoke to them, saying, "All power is given to me in heaven and in
earth. 66-21Therefore, go into all the world, preach the gospel
to everyone, and teach all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, 66-22teaching them to observe all things that I have
commanded you. 66-23The one who believes and
is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will
be condemned.
xxxx66-24"And these signs
will follow those who believe: In my name they will cast out
demons; they will speak with new tongues;
66-25they will take up
serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt
them; 66-26they will lay hands on
the sick, and they will recover.
xxxx66-27"And know this; I am sending the promise
of my Father on you. But remain in
the city of Jerusalem, until you are covered with power from on
high.
xxxx66-28"And know I am present with you all the
time, even to the completion of the age. Amen."

xxxx66-29So then after the Lord had spoken to them, he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 66-30Now, it happened, while he blessed them, he was separated from them and carried up into heaven. Then [he] sat down at the right hand of God.
Disciples Worship and Preach the Gospel
xxxx66-31Then they worshipped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy and were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. 66-32Also, they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word with signs following.
This Is Written That
You Might Believe
That Jesus Is the Christ and Have Life
xxxx66-33Now, many other things and signs
Jesus did in the presence of his disciples that are not written
in this book, which, if everyone should be written, I suppose
that even the world itself could not contain the books that
should be written. 66-34But these are written that you
might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that
believing you might have life through his name.

xxAmen! Amen! Amen! Amen
